Welsh Cob Success at Paradriving Driving Championships

Our Welsh Ponies and Cobs have been excelling themselves recently in the Driving Championships.

Welsh Section D Beechwood Bracken known as Alfie at home (Abborfield Prince Michael x Beechwood Samone and going back on the dams side to Nebo Brenin) stunned at the 2025 Paradriving World Championships at the age of 24 by helping the British Team secure a team bronze medal and coming 5th overall. Emily Ham, who has owned Alfie for 13 years, drove him to a stunning third place podium finish in the very challenging final cones phase well within the time allowed. Officials commented on his athleticism and enthusiasm across the three phases and at the inspection questioned whether his age of 24 was not a typo for 14 years old!

At 24 he was the oldest equine at the Championships, repeating his World bronze medal success of 2023 when he was 22.

Alfie is an incredible pony who loves competing and the most wonderful partner in top level sport.

Congratulations Emily.
