Trustees of the Society
The Society is governed by a board of 15 trustees, who are elected for a three year term of office by the Members. Trustees can stand for two terms in office (up to 6 years in the post) before being required to stand down for 3 years before they can reapply. The Board of Trustees is referred to as the Society's 'Council'. At the first meeting following the AGM, the board elect a Chair and Vice Chair, and a Chair and Vice Chair of all of the Society's Sub-Committees.

The Society also has a President who is appointed annually through a nomination process and ballot of the Membership. To be the President of the Society is the highest honour, and the President's role includes presiding over the AGM, representing the Society at events at home and abroad, and having involvement in the Council and sub-committee meetings to ensure they have a greater depth of understanding of the Society business and topical items.

Trustees of the Society must follow the Council Terms of Reference.
Contacting the Trustees
The Society asks that any correspondence that a Member may wish to raise with the Council or relevant sub-committee is directed through the Company Secretary, in writing via post or email and at least 14 days ahead of any meeting to ensure it is discussed. Only serious matters, complaints or disciplinary matters will be discussed by the Council in addition to their regular strategic work. Any registration, passport, membership or showing queries should be directed to the relevant Member of Staff in the office who will be able to deal with your query promptly. Trustee terms last for a maximum of three years before the trustee must either retire (if they have completed two consecutive terms), or stand for re-election.
