Young Judges Competition
The Young Judges Competition will be held at the
Shropshire & West Midland Showground, Shrewsbury on Saturday, 5th
August, 2006 at 4.45pm. The competition costs £10 per entry.
Due to the popularity of this event, all applications should be made via your local
Area Association, a list of all Area Associations and their contact details can be found
HERE.
The closing date for entries is Monday, 17th July 2006.
The competition is split into different categories based on the ages of the applicants. These classes are
10-12 years, 13-18 years and 19-25 years.
The highest placed competitor in each category will receive a medal. The overall winner will receive the
Llanarth Trophy and also the chance to follow a judge in the ring on the following day.
Prize money is available for 1st to 3rd in all categories, kindly
sponsored by Mrs K. A. James.
All competitors will receive a Society rosette.
All competitors are required to dress formally - hats/bowlers should be worn.
This years competition will be judging an In-Hand class of four Section B ponies,
comprising of either mares or geldings. The ponies will be asked to line up
at the end of the ring. Each group will be allowed approximately 1 minute to view each pony in
walk and trot. Each competitor should complete a placing card with comments and the placing order of
each pony. The placing section of the card should be given to the steward before the competitor leaves
the ring. Each competitor will then attend an individual interview on their placings and their observations.
During the competition, no competitor will be allowed to speak to anyone who is outside of the show ring.
Competitors are asked not to touch any of the ponies.
