Changes to the WPCS Stud Book
At the October 31st, 2005 meeting of the WPCS
Council meeting it was resolved to create an additional register within the main
body of the WPCS stud book. This is will ensure that all animals with proven
registered parentage are accommodated within the WPCS studbook.
The register will be called Section X. It will be open
to all animals with proven parentage that were not previously eligible for
registration with the WPCS. This could include, progeny of BxD and BxC, coloured
ponies and progeny of unlicensed stallions. Stock and progeny accepted in
Section X will remain within that section.
The Council have also agreed that animals entered in
Section X will not be eligible to be shown in classes for registered Welsh
Ponies and Cobs, Mountain and Moorland etc. In addition animals registered in
Section X will not be eligible to be sold at official Society
Sales.
This change to the WPCS studbook is taking place in
order to ensure compliance with EU legislation (EU 96/78) concerning the
harmonisation of stud books and is consistent with changes being adopted by
other UK Native Breed Societies.
