Rules and Regulations Governing the
award of Performance Medals
The aim of the scheme is to promote the use of all
Welsh Ponies and Cobs and Welsh Part-Breds in Performance Disciplines and to
bring awareness to the general public of their versatility. Medals can be
awarded to non-members.
1. All animals must be registered or entered in
their appropriate Section of the Welsh Stud Book, including Welsh Part-bred
ponies and horses. Proof of registration to be made on entry forms in the
case of Welsh Classes. In Open Classes proof must be made available to
Show/Event Secretaries. The onus is on the Show to validate eligibility to
compete, e.g. name and registration number of animal competing/photo-copy of
Passport or Registration Certificate.
2. At the discretion of or by nomination to the
Society and in recognition of outstanding achievement, e.g. Open Classes in
Eventing, Dressage, Showjumping or any other equine disciplines.
3. Medals can be awarded to the class winner in
Novice or Open (A,B,C,D or Welsh Part-Bred), in any discipline, to be available
in the schedule.
4. Medals can be awarded in Mountain and Moorland
Classes. The medal to be awarded to the highest placed Welsh, but not lower
than 4th place overall.
5. Medals can be awarded in Open competition to
the highest placed Welsh but not lower than 4th place overall.
6. Lead Rein and First Ridden will be restricted
to Section A, B and Welsh Part-Bred Ponies, maximum height of 12.2 h.h.
7. There is no limit to the number of medals
awarded to any one animal in any one season.
8. The Royal Welsh Show, Horse of the Year and the
Mountain and Moorland Championship at Olympia are exempt from the above
rules.
9. The result sheet MUST BE RETURNED TO THE
OFFICE."
