Congratulations must go out to Mrs Dorothy Evans, her daughter Deidre Powell and granddaughter Judith Powell of the Langarth Stud in Monmouthshire and breeders of Langarth Darcy, the mount of Rodney Powell who following an exceptionally consistent 2007 campaign is to join the British Eventing Team at the European Championships at Pratoni del Vivaro, Italy (13-16th September). We wish the British Team, Rodney Powell and Langarth Darcy’s owners, Brook and Sally Johnson the ‘Best of Luck’.

Further success for Langarth Stud’s progeny came at the British Eventing’s Grassroots Festival of Eventing at Aston-Le-Walls recently where it was the turn of another Langarth horse, the Palomino mare, Langarth Aisha, owned by Mrs G. E. V. Kingston and ridden by Jessica Kingston-Schiedider that took the prestigious British Eventing Pre-novice Championship, on a dressage score with double clears. It is worth noting that Langarth Aisha is by the Stud’s section D Stallion, Rainbow Lad and has shown ‘all potential’ so far across all three phases of British Eventing.

Also from the Langarth Stud the Mace family’s Langarth Phillippa this time by the Stud’s Langarth Triple (GSB). Angela Mace and Langarth Phillippa, was an earlier winner of the Welsh Part-Bred Horse Group’s bursary and recently notched up a very impressive 3rd place in the British Eventing Intermediate class at Barbury Castle, and since has been sold to event with new owners in Texas, USA.

In the showring Mrs G. P. George’s Langarth Donna by the Stud’s GSB stallion Langarth Triple and Kirsty Fudge’s Langarth Trilogy (by Triple Sweet), were flying the flag for Wales as team members at the BSPS Internationals in the Open and Intermediate Working Hunter championships where their consistent jumping ability shone through.

Other Langarth horses to look out for include; Langarth Delia and Langarth Sebastian who have had various successes in the Dressage arena. While Langarth Edmund and Langarth Rupert as well as demonstrating their ability at British Eventing events have shown themselves to be very useful in the BSJA showjumping ring. Whilst Langarth Ruby and Julie Lees have been regularly winning jumping, workers and dressage from her South Wales base. In addition there are various Langarth youngsters with loads of potential being prepared for various equestrian competitions.

Congratulations - What a Record – In 2006-2007 Langarth Welsh Part-Bred horses will have represented the USA, Great Britain and Wales in International competition and we are sure you will agree that they have earned their place as true ambassadors for the Welsh Pony and Cob Society’s Part-Bred Stud Register and also for their Welsh connections, especially Dorothy Evans and Deidre Powell who had the vision to breed these ‘equine athletes’ and to Judith for carrying on the family tradition of breeding horses ‘that have what it takes’.

Chris Rendall’s Mytice Minding Time has not only been chalking up the winnings in the Showjumping ring with his usual rider Anna Strawson, but was also loaned to a friend of Chris’s for sidesaddle competitions including winning a class for coloureds at the Sidesaddle Championships.

Dexters Lot who is owned and was bred on the outskirts of Cardiff by Diane Batton out of a Welsh Cob mare by Nibaro a son of the great showjumper Marius, has continued his consistency with Welsh Showjumper Martin Edwards. Dexters Lot spends the summer months at the Edwards Family’s farm/equestrian base at Llandough, near Cowbridge and returns in the autumn to Diane to hunt.
