The Welsh Pony & Cob Society extends very best wishes to all 14 Welsh pony and cob finalists flying the Breed flag at Olympia on Thursday - good luck to them all.

Traditionally the native pony year ends at Olympia with the judging of the Bailey’s Horse Feed Championship and this year it takes place on the morning of Thursday 20th December.

It was first held back in 1978 when the Welsh section B pony, Criffel Casper stood supreme. Since then the Welsh breeds total has risen to 11 including last year, when Gill and Roy Ashworth’s home bred section B, Pittybeck Prince Charming ably ridden by Katie Carter, gained the title.

This year, from the 35 qualifying places, the Welsh breeds have gained no fewer than 13 tickets - again the most successful native breed society in the final.

The Welsh Pony & Cob Society congratulates the qualifiers and wishes them well in the final.
