HOYS Results 2002

The Welsh Breeds fared well in the Cuddy Breeders Challenge Supreme In Hand competition at Horse of the Year Show, held at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham on 10 October 2002.

The three-year-old Section A colt Vervale Gabana, owned by Barry Shepherd of St Albans, was placed 5th in the junior class. In the senior class the Section A stallion Dukeshill Magnum, owned by Kathy and Joanna Sheil of Builth Wells, was 4th; the Cob stallion Gwynfaes Culhwch, owned by Dianne and Meirion Evans of Cynwyl Elfed, who qualified at the Royal Welsh Show, was 5th; and the Section B stallion Douthwaite Signwriter, owned by the Llanarth Stud, was 7th.

The hunter brood mare Free Spirit, who was champion in 1995 and 2000 and is owned by Miranda Skinner of Pentyrch, was 3rd in the senior class.

Another qualifier in the senior class which was bred in Wales was the riding pony brood mare Towy Valley Vogue, bred by Eira and Will Jones of Rhandirmwyn.
