Held on 20 September 2003
Once again the Ceredigion Welsh Pony and Cob Association held a very successful annual Foal Show, at the new venue of Lampeter market by kind permission of J.J. Morris, on Saturday 20 September. Classes were again well supported, resulting in strong competition, the strongest entries appearing in the Welsh cob section with 15 filly foals forward and ten colt foals.
The Association wishes to thank all those for sponsoring the prize money, with special thanks to Tynant Natural Mineral Waters for donating £100 and sash to the overall supreme champion of the show and to Mr Tommy Williams, Tregaron, for donating £50 and sash to the overall reserve supreme champion. Thanks also to all those individuals who sponsored trophies. Special acknowledgement goes to NFU Llanybydder and NFU Aberaeron for sponsoring the prize money and rosettes.
The supreme championship was judged by the show president, Mr Clive Hoyles of Ciliau Aeron. Clive is also chairman of the successful Festival for Welsh Ponies and Cobs, held annually in Aberaeron. Many thanks for his time and commitment to the show.
The champions of all five Sections came together for the supreme of the show, and the winning sash was awarded to the charismatic bay Section D colt, Brenig Adam, owned by Miss Jane Williams of the Brenig Stud, Llanddewi Brefi. This colt is by the well known stallion Gwenllan Sam out of Brenig Fancy. Those who are steeped in Welsh cob lore will need no introduction to the bloodlines of this upstanding colt.

The reserve supreme went to the bay Section C colt Gwenllan Mabon, owned by Gari Davies of the Gwenllan Stud. This colt was sired by Parc Marvel out of Gwenllan Awel. Another one to look out for for the future.
