In-Hand Medals
The WPCS runs a scheme for awarding gold, silver and bronze medals
for in-hand classes at certain shows.
See also sire ratings.
Performance Medals
The Society has recently introduced Performance medals to be
awarded for the various disciplines ie riding, driving etc. These are separate
to the in-hand medals and have different rules ie exhibitors do not have to be
members of the Society, there is no restriction on how many can be won in a
season as they will be awarded on the day by the Show Secretary.
Performance Awards
The Society's Performance Award Scheme is run by
Mrs Kathleen James of Little Broad Reed Farm, Hadlow Down, Uckfield, East
Sussex, TN22 4EL (Tel.: 01825 830344). For further details of the Award Scheme,
which is based on performance successes accrued over a period, please could you
contact Mrs James direct.
National
High Point Junior Welsh Gelding of the Year
The Scheme is open to all
geldings within Sections A, B, C, & D, three years of age and under, shown
in-hand. The scheme runs from the 1st March to the 1st November and points are
gained throughout this time.
It is hoped that we will gain financial sponsorship for all four sections. If you are interested in
sponsoring this scheme, please contact Erin Moss at the office.

The
Millcroft Stud Gelding Awards
In offering these free Overall
Gelding Championship rosettes, generously sponsored by the Millcroft Stud,
we hope to encourage the showing of geldings
in-hand, therefore creating a market for the often un-wanted colt foal/s and
enabling the creation of a network of potential performance prospects to
represent the best Native breed in the World at the highest level.
Attention – all organizers of affiliated Welsh Pony & Cob Society shows.
Why not stage a specific “Gelding, 3 yrs and under” class for each
Section to encourage young gelding exhibitors even more, giving them a greater
chance of winning a red rosette? The
winners of these classes, together with the highest placed gelding from your
Barren Mare/Gelding Class can then go forward to compete for these free
Millcroft rosettes. Please state in your show schedules:
Welsh Pony & Cob Gelding Incentive Scheme – Overall Gelding
Champion and Reserve, to be competed for by the highest placed geldings from
each appropriate class within Sections A, B, C & D, generously sponsored by
the Millcroft Stud.
