Council Meeting Synopsis

Special Meeting of the Council held at 10:30am on Monday 29th January, 2007 at Hafod a Hendre, Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells.

Present at the meeting were: Miss S. Hardy (Vice Chairman), Mrs. M.E.Mansfield (President Elect), Dr. E. W. Davies (Publicity Officer), Mr. S. Franklin (Chairman of Finance), Mrs. J. Price (Chairman of JAC), Mrs. W. Bond, Mr. M. T. Daley, Mrs. E. Dart,  Mr. E.T.E. Davies, Mrs. M. Edwards, Lady J. Evans-Bevan,  Mrs. E. R. French, Mrs. P. Howells, Mrs. K.A. James, Mr. A. J. Jones, Mrs. D. Jones, Mr. G. Jones, Mr. W.G. Jones, Mr. J. T. Kirk, Mr. D. W.W.Lloyd, Mrs. R. Mills, Mr. D. D. Morgan, Mr. J. P Parry, Mr. E. Prosser, Miss. J.Sheil, Mr. K. Spenser, Mrs. D. M. Apologies were received from: Mr. L. Bigley (Chairman), Mr. M.C. Johnston (President), Mrs. C. Fell, Miss L. Hutchins, Miss R. Philipson-Stow, Mr. J. Russell, Mr. P. Wilding-Davies.

Declarations of interest were noted by Mrs. E.R. French, Mr. W.G. Jones, Mr. K. Spenser. Individuals left the meeting at the appropriate times.

To receive legal advice on the outcome of the Disciplinary Review and subsequent correspondence.

  • Mrs. Mansfield outlined the process undertaken in the review
  • The Society’s solicitor advised the Council on the various legal issues relating to the Disciplinary Review.
  • The advice was unanimously accepted by the Council.

To receive the report of the independent investigation into complaints made against 2 Council members and a member of staff.

  • The report was accepted in its entirety, subject to factual corrections and typographical errors.
  • It was unanimously agreed that in line with the reports findings for the member of staff, no further action was necessary
  • It was unanimously agreed that in line with the reports findings disciplinary procedures would be undertaken.
  • It was noted that an additional letter had been received on the 25th January from the complainant with further allegations. Council issued instructions to the Society’s solicitor to provide further advice on this correspondence. It was agreed that for the purposes of the next Special meeting a reduced notice period of 7 days would be accepted

The meeting closed at 4:15pm
